New 2026 Lexus RZ Reviews, Specs, MPG
New 2026 Lexus RZ Reviews, Specs, MPG – While it’s true that Lexus was the first luxury automaker to introduce a hybrid vehicle, the company is constantly quick to highlight its pioneering role in electrification. But this Lexus RZ isn’t just any electric vehicle; it’s the first of its kind from the Japanese manufacturer. For many reasons, the RZ is appealing. It’s affordable, roomy, easy to drive, and comfortable (if you skip the higher trim levels, of course). However, its poor efficiency limits its usefulness; during our Winter Range Test, it failed to reach its advertised range by over 100 miles. New 2026 Lexus RZ Reviews
New 2026 Lexus RZ Redesign and Update Plan
The Lexus RZ takes design cues from the Toyota bZ4X, which means it shares the latter’s generous rear legroom, level floor, and ample headroom for those who are very tall. Although it lacks the sliding rear seats seen in the Hyundai Ioniq 5, it does have the ability to gently modify the angle of the rear seatbacks, making it one of the most practical electric SUVs now available.
The RZ’s trunk is roomier than those of its main competitors, the BMW iX3 and the Genesis Electrified GV70, and there’s enough of space for the charging connections under the floor. Since the iX3 could fit eight standard carry-on bags (the most allowed in our testing), this should alleviate the problem of no under-bonnet storage and ensure that you have plenty of room to spare. Exterior & Interior
The interior heating of electric cars uses a lot of energy, which reduces their efficiency and range in cold weather. For this reason, the Lexus RZ Takumi and Premium Plus Pack come equipped with tiny infrared heaters.
Using only 170W, they create the sensation of having warm blankets on your knees by radiating heat to your legs and the legs of your front passenger. You can save a ton of power because turning on the primary temperature control system uses about 5,000W. Even with the heated seat and steering wheel turned on, you’ll still be saving a ton of money on your energy bill compared to when you were wearing a coat. New 2026 Lexus RZ Reviews
New 2026 Lexus RZ Specs
It is unfortunate that the decreased control at greater speeds diminishes comfort, as everything is good at modest speeds. The suspension effectively hides the ruts and potholes that plague British roads, even when equipped with the biggest 20-inch alloy wheels. While it won’t completely eliminate larger lumps, it will significantly lessen their discomfort. Even for an electric vehicle, the RX is surprisingly silent while driving. Very little engine noise and road noise is audible.
One Motion Grip is a feature that will be available later on. It swaps out the standard spherical steering wheel for the one in our photographs, which resembles an airplane. The ‘wheel’ isn’t really connected to the front wheels, and it won’t be accessible in Europe until 2025 at the earliest. Rather, a motor mounted on the steering rack receives your signals through wires and then turns the wheels. New 2026 Lexus RZ Reviews
Engine & Performance
Quickness is assured with the Lexus RZ. With a total of 308 horsepower, its two electric motors more than match the acceleration of a BMW iX3. Yeah, the G-force isn’t as excruciating as it is in the Genesis Electrified GV70 or the Tesla Model Y, but really, who needs that in a family SUV?
The RZ is usually fun to ride on winding rural roads at modest speeds. The tires provide excellent traction, the steering wheel provides a fair feeling of connection to the front wheels, and the weight progressively builds up as you apply lock on the way into a turn, which is a comforting feeling. The RZ gets a little shaky when you speed up or hit an uneven patch. Compared to the iX3 and other competitors, the RZ has a more slender frame and struggles to maintain its grip on steep inclines and descents. New 2026 Lexus RZ Reviews
New 2026 Lexus RZ Fuel Economy
Among RZ models equipped with front-wheel drive, the EPA has awarded 29 highway MPG and 22 city MPG ratings. The all-wheel drive RZ achieves 21 city MPG and 28 highway MPG. Once we get a chance to test drive the RZ on our highway fuel-efficiencyroute at 75 mph, we will update this report with our real-world findings. For additional information regarding the RX’s fuel efficiency, you may visit the EPA’s website. New 2026 Lexus RZ Reviews
New 2026 Lexus RZ Safety Features
The RX is similar to other new cars and SUVs from Lexus in that it comes standard with several driver-assistance systems. All RX models include adaptive cruise control with lane centering, and the vehicle’s autonomous emergency braking system can identify both pedestrians and motorcyclists. Those interested in learning more about the RX’s performance in crash tests may do so by visiting the websites of the IIHS and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Some important safety elements are:
- Fully autonomous braking system that can determine when a person is walking or riding a bike.
- Integral lane-keeping assist and standard lane-departure warning
- Adaptive cruise control that centers itself on the road is standard equipment. New 2026 Lexus RZ Reviews
New 2026 Lexus RZ Release Date & Price
Although it has a lower starting price than the Genesis Electrified GV70 and is almost on par with the BMW iX3, the Lexus RZ is far from being an affordable electric SUV alternative. With a greater range and faster charging capabilities, the most costly variant of the somewhat smaller Tesla Model Y costs thousands less.
Even the base Premium Pack comes with a ton of standard features, such a panoramic roof, keyless entry, power front seats, temperature control, and wheels (18 inches). With its infrared warmers, heated front seats, head-up display, and 20-inch wheels, the Premium Plus Pack is an excellent value, in our opinion. The top-tier Takumi has a panoramic roof that can be dimmed, a better sound system, and softer interior finishes; yet, as appealing as it may be, the price tag is too high to suggest.
